Everyone loves a good love story. We are no different! We can’t help but look at a gorgeous wedding and think, “I wonder how these to got here…” We love when you share your wedding photos with us, but we want to know more! Give us the detes!
Today, we are spotlighting the couple behind one of our favorite weddings in Miami, FL. This is Kaylee & Eric Fiallo’s love story.
These two love birds crossed paths when they started college at the local university, Florida International University (FIU). They both decided to rush for a fraternity/sorority. When in a sorority or fraternity, you are matched up with someone who is a veteran to said sorority or fraternity and they become your “Big Brother or Big Sister.”
“Girls at my high school had fought over Eric & he didn’t even go to our school! I told my Big Sister, Chelsie NOT to even THINK about hooking me up with him, because I was all about being drama-free, lol. A few months later, our close friendship turned into “can’t be without you” and eight years later, here we are — a married couple!”
YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT
Kaylee: “Back in college, writing on cars was a “big” thing. Well, the first time Eric told me he loved me was by writing it all over my car. I walked outside one morning and there was my car…completely tagged by Eric! It was so cute & I loved how it was like not only was he telling me that he loved me, but he was proud enough to let the world know, too.”
HOW DID HE ASK?!
Kaylee: “We had decided to move to NYC for Eric’s recent promotion. One weekend, we went up to visit NYC to look for an apartment. On our 2nd day of looking, we found the one that we’d call home!
…That night at our hotel (The Lexington), as we were getting dressed and ready for a nice dinner, the unexpected happened! I was in our hotel bathroom finishing up my makeup, and as usual, Eric watched TV as he waited for me. He kept calling my name to rush me so that we wouldn’t be late for our reservation. He called my name, probably for the fourth time, and annoyed, I walked out of the bathroom to let him know I needed 5 more minutes. To my surprise, when I walked out of the bathroom, there Eric was….down on one knee….and I just could not believe it! I even told him if he was kidding, it wasn’t funny….but then he opened the box and there was the ring! He told me how much he loved me and how I am his #1 supporter and that he couldn’t ever imagine life without me. Of course, I said, YES!”
ERIC, HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT MOMENT?
Eric: “I had originally planned to propose at Astoria Park, right near the water. But when we got to the park, there was a totally obnoxious quinceanera photoshoot happening….right where I wanted to propose! I was so nervous and the photoshoot ruined the moment, so I couldn’t follow through with the original plan.”
“ALL DAY the ring box was burning a hole in my pocket! I was shocked Kaylee didn’t notice it. I started to think about what I was going to do now that ‘plan A’ fell through….we were so on the go that whole weekend with apartment hunting, it was hard to find a good time.
Kaylee: “He said on “the night” as he waited for me to get ready for dinner, he fell asleep watching TV. At one point, I went over to him (he was sleeping with his mouth open, haha) and I stuck my finger in his mouth to wake him up and let him know I’d be ready in half an hour. He said in that EXACT moment, he knew he HAD to spend forever with me….and he HAD to propose right then & there! LOL. Basically, he knew he wanted me to annoy him for the rest of his life, and he couldn’t wait any longer to propose!”
When you think of a fairytale wedding – lots of greenery, beautiful flowers, beautiful couple, beautiful scenery – that’s what Kaylee & Eric’s big day consisted of. They chose one of our favorite Miami Venues – Villa Woodbine as the place to gather their closest friends and family to establish their life long commitment to one another.
The romantic ceremony and reception was held on December 10, 2016.
